D’Banj had admitted to my artiste that he was having problems getting a sponsor and would not hold the concert if his attempts at getting one fails. He spent a lot of money in bringing Idris Elba and others to the
country last year and does not want to do so alone this year. So, when I read on Twitter that he said he was cancelling the concert to honour Mandela, I just laughed at the PR-driven lie.

Brenda Schmitz, a wife and mother of four boys, died from ovarian cancer in September 2011. A month before she passed away, she wrote a letter addressed to her local radio station, which runs an annual Christmas wishes programme.
Brenda, 46, asked a friend to only post the letter to the Iowa radio station, Star 102.5, once her widowed husband, David, had fallen in love again.

This year the station brought David in to the studio and surprised him on air by saying they had received a letter from his late wife.
‘When you are in receipt of this letter, I will have already lost my battle to ovarian cancer,’ Brenda said in the heartfelt note.
‘I told [my friend] once my loving husband David had moved on in his life and had met someone to share his life with again, to mail this letter to all of you at the station.’
Brenda’s ‘Christmas wish’ from the station, of which few are granted every year, was for David’s new love to be pampered.
‘She deserves it, being a stepmother to all those boys. Maker her smile and know her efforts are truly appreciated from me,’ the letter read.
She also requested for a ‘magical trip’ for all the family as well as a night out for cancer doctors at Mercy Medical Hospital where she was treated.
All three of Brenda’s wishes where granted by the station and local sponsors, who sent the family of eight, including two children of David’s partner Jane, to Disney World.

Manchester United boss heaps praise on Januzaj
The 18-year-old doubled the Red Devils' lead after Danny Welbeck had opened the scoring against the Hammers.
That was the young winger's 3rd goal of the campaign following his stunning brace against Sunderland back in October.
Ashley Young sealed the points for Manchester United, before substitute Carlton Cole grabbed a late consolation goal for the visitors.
Januzaj's performance was one of the high-points in United's routine victory that moves them up to 7th in the Premier League.
Moyes said he was happy with the youngster's efforts today - but added he is pushing his young charge to be even better.
"Adnan Januzaj is doing really well," said the Manchester United boss after the game.
"We are always hard on him, we always want more but he is doing remarkably well. He can score goals, he is a real talent.
"We would like to be doing much better, we want to be right at the top but we will continue to keep going."
Januzaj blotted his copy book against West Ham when he was booked for a blatant dive.
Despite that Moyes had plenty to smile about after watching his Manchester United side win their third game in a row - however he wants to see them charge up the league over the festive period.
"We played well today," he said. "I'm a wee bit disappointed we didn't take some more opportunities and I was disappointed not to keep a clean sheet but we got done on the break.
"The job is to keep our head down and keep winning games. There is confidence among the players, we are creating a lot of opportunities right now. Danny Welbeck has a sore knee.

According to reports, Pastor Okotie recently acquired the 2014 Bespoke Edition of the Rolls Royce Coupe.
The controversial pastor is said to have bought the gift in commemoration of his 30 years as born-again Christian and 27 years as a pastor.
Nigerian Eye reports: According to Okotie’s close aide, the pastor spent N120m on the luxury car and had earlier spent N33m on a Range Rover Autobiography to mark a milestone of his church.
The source, in a text message, said, “Pastor Okotie just bought a Rolls Royce Coupe, 2014 Bespoke Edition at N120m to mark his 30 years as a born-again Christian and 27 years as
a pastor. He had earlier bought a Range Rover (Autobiography) 2014 Model for N33m, reputed to be the costliest SUV in the world to mark this ministry’s milestone.”

Fernando Torres' goalkeeper dreams ended after shattering teeth
Torres completed a £50 million British record transfer to Stamford Bridge back in 2011, but it could have been very different had he not come undone in an unfortunate incident between the posts.
“I start playing as a goalkeeper, until I break my teeth doing a save,” Torres told Sky Sports News. “And my mother said ‘you want to play football, no more as a goalkeeper.’”
Since joining Chelsea, Torres is yet to truly capture the form which saw him set the Premier League alight with Liverpool.
It's often said that the Chelsea star is burned by his enormous fee, but he says that paying big money for a forward is just par for the course.
“At the time the price is right. It’s like, if you want to sigh Gareth Bale now, you have to pay £100 million," he said.
"Maybe you pay one more year, and maybe you pay £60 million or £150 million. Who knows? At the time the price is right. What Chelsea paid, it’s never been something I think about.”
Chelsea are currently in third in the Premier League, and will have the chance to overtake league leaders Arsenal when they go head to head on Monday.
Torres has scored five goals this season, and only two in the Premier League.

Moderate consumption of booze has long been thought to reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes, but researchers at Oregon Health and Science University have now also found a link with the immune system and the fight against infection.
Scientists made four per cent ethanol alcohol available and attractive to 12 rhesus macaque monkeys – which they say have an immune system similar to humans.
The ‘drinking’ monkeys were compared with a control group which had only sugar water and after a 14-month period the ones consuming alcohol had naturally divided themselves into ‘heavy’ and ‘moderate’ drinkers.
Prior to the study starting, the monkeys were vaccinated against small pox with a second vaccination seven months in.

Moderate drinking appeared to have improved the monkeys’ immune systems, the researchers claim, in the study which was published in journal Vaccine.
‘If you have a family history of alcohol abuse, or are at risk, or have been an abuser in the past, we are not recommending you go out and drink to improve your immune system,’ said Ilhem Messaoudi, lead author of the paper.
‘But for the average person who has, say, a glass of wine with dinner, it does seem in general to improve health and cardiovascular function. And now we can add the immune system to that list.’
Moderate drinking is considered to comprise of one and six units of alcohol per day. Three units is a 175ml glass of wine or a pint and a half of four per cent beer.

Ferguson's book continues to cause controversy
One such player was Owen Hargreves, who Ferguson claimed didn't have "nearly enough determination" and "always chose the easier option" in training.
Hargreaves has responded by telling the Independent: "Anyone who knows me will know that professionalism is one of my strongest traits. I always give my best. A lot of people who have rang me this week were very surprised by what he said, myself included.
“I think he said a lot of things in there that were with emotion. He was very disappointed obviously with the way things turned out.”
Another player to get picked on by Ferguson was former England captain David Beckham. The former Manchester United boss has said that he sold the midfielder to Real Madrid because he was too obsessed with fame and that he "thought he was bigger than Alex Ferguson" which is a death sentence seeing as Fergie seems to have a rule about having to be the most important person in any situation.
Beckham responded to the jibes by taking the high road: "I wouldn't be negative about Sir Alex Ferguson because he was the man who gave me the chance to live my dream," reported the Telegraph as the former United star answered questions on Facebook.
Quite surprising that Sir Alex Ferguson thought he was bigger than David Beckham.

School music teacher jailed following sex abuse of male pupils
Philip Evans, 38, spent four years secretly capturing indecent images of male pupils within the changing rooms of King Edward’s School in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
He also filmed the sexual assaults of seven teenage boys – attacks he carried out while pretending to measure them.
Police raided Evans’ home in August after receiving intelligence about the downloading of indecent images.
Birmingham Crown Court heard how during this raid officers found an indecent photograph of a sleeping boy, which led to Evans’ arrest.
Officers discovered 350,000 indecent images on his computer in addition to 100 recordings of pupils in changing rooms.
One of the cameras had been attached to a bench inside a bathroom during a school trip.
Evans – who had also been an RAF leader in the Combined Cadet Force at the school - pleaded guilty to six counts of voyeurism, seven of sexual assault, and nine relating to possession of indecent images.
Prosecutor Aliya Rashid said: ‘The offending spanned four years and much of it was executed with covert recordings set up meticulously for the defendant’s own sexual gratification.
‘On one occasion, Evans entered a shower area at 4am to set up equipment and could be seen testing that it was working.’

Hero bus driver rushes pregnant woman to hospital after waiting 75 minutes for an ambulance
Sajjad Shariff, 41, was driving the W15 bus in Leytonstone when heavily pregnant Fatim Faye, 44, flagged him down at around 11pm.
‘She came on and said “baby” and “hospital” and was breathing quickly and heavily,’ Mr Shariff explained.
The bus driver called a ‘code red’ which alerts Transport for London’s emergency control room of an urgent incident and requested an ambulance.
After 30 minutes there was no sign of one so Mr Shariff called a code red again, with Miss Faye’s partner, Deme Ndiogou, also arriving on the scene 40 minutes later.
At 12.13am, Mr Shariff decided they could no longer wait for an ambulance and drove the bus to A&E at Whipps Cross Hospital.
Ms Faye gave birth to a baby girl at 1.45am on December 12 and both are said to be doing well.
Ambulance controllers said they were mistakenly told she was nine weeks pregnant instead of nine months, so failed to pick up the call as urgent.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘The information initially given to our control room was that the patient was nine weeks pregnant.
‘This was corrected during a second call at 11.20pm, when it was explained she was nine months pregnant.
‘The patient’s condition had not changed at this stage and she was fully conscious and breathing normally and was not categorised as being in a life-threatening condition.
‘We would like to apologise for any upset this may have been caused.’

Voicemails left to Kate from Prince William were read out in the Old Bailey as part of the case against a number of employees who worked at the paper, who face charges relating to phone hacking.
Transcripts of conversations between the senior royal and Kate, now his wife, were discovered during police investigations.
In one, Prince William said ‘Hi baby, it’s me’ in addition to calling Kate ‘babykins,’ in the recordings read out by prosecutor Andrew Edis QC.
The prince also said in the phone message: ‘I had a busy day today again. I’ve been running around the woods of Aldershot chasing shadows and getting horribly lost, and I walked into some other regiment’s ambush, which was slightly embarrassing because I nearly got shot.
‘Not by live rounds but by blank rounds, which would have been very embarrassing, though.’
In another message, William calls his brother Harry pretending to be his then girlfriend Chelsy Davy.
In a jokey high-pitched voice he says: ‘It’s Chelsy here and saying you are the best looking ginger I have ever seen.’
The voicemails were allegedly unearthed from private investigator Glenn Mulcaire’s home address, who has previously been jailed for intercepting phone messages for the paper.
The trial of the former NotW employees in addition to Charlie Brooks, the husband of News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks who is also on trial, continues.

The image was shared by hundreds of bemused Twitter users – some of which have got themselves in a tizzy over whether it was even a mistake after all.
The billboard is believed to be in Chennai, south India, and written in Tamil, so verification of the content hasn’t been easy to get.
Despite widely believed to have been a blunder, Twitter user @choultry insisted: ‘This is a Morgan Freeman tribute poster on which some text about Mandela was misprinted. Disprove. Or read Zizek.’
Earlier this month, 76-year-old Freeman, who played Mandela in 2009 film Invictus, gave a fitting eulogy to the South African leader, telling the New York Daily News: ‘Today the world lost one of the true giants of the past century.

Blind man can’t afford to keep guide dog that saved his life after falling on train tracks(Photos)
Cecil Williams, 61, fainted on the platform of a New York subway station and fell on to the tracks – dragging his ten-year-old black Labrador, Orlando, with him.
As Cecil lay unconscious, Orlando licked his face until he woke up – just as a train headed straight for them.
The pair rolled into a space between the tracks moments before two carriages rolled over them.
Cecil, who suffered a minor head injury, has been recovering from his ordeal in hospital.
However, he now faces being separated from Orlando because his health insurance will not cover the cost of keeping the pet when he retires next year as a working guide dog.
He said: ‘The dog saved my life. He tried to hold me up.’
According to witnesses, Orlando barked frantically and tried to stop Cecil from falling.
Ana Quinones told the New York Post: ’The dog was trying to pull him away from the southbound edge of the platform, but his feet were on the edge, he was wobbling, and the dog was barking.
‘But there was nothing he could do once he was down there. He just sat there with the man. He just licked the man’s face trying to get him to move.’
Chelsea star angers fans with controversial tweet
According to the Daily Mirror, a number of Chelsea fans slammed Eto'o after the Blues forward uploaded a picture of himself along with his "SE29" logo and the Sunderland 2-1 Chelsea scoreline onto his Twitter account.
One fan reportedly wrote "F**k off" in reply to the Eto'o tweet, while others were not sure whether it was meant as a joke or not.
One Twitter user named "Calculated Kalou" replied to Eto'o: "You're not fit to wear the shirt."
The picture, which was not taken from Chelsea's match against Sunderland, was posted two hours after the final whistle at the Stadium of Light.
Eto'o, who was replaced by Demba Ba mid-way through the second half of the 2-1 defeat in the Capital One Cup, endured another mediocre display up front for the Blues.
A Lee Cattermole own goal had given Chelsea the lead shortly after half-time, before an 88th minute Fabio Borini strike took the match to extra time.
Chelsea, who had been on top for most of the 90 minutes, were then pinned back by Gus Poyet's side in extra time.
And Ki sealed the win for Sunderland with less than 120 seconds remaining, firing low past Mark Schwarzer in the Chelsea net.

Jim Iyke Arrested in Ghana After Fight over $10,000
Nollywood actor Jim Iyke became the headliner of various Ghanaian newspapers in the morning of December 18, 2013, Wednesday.
The local media alleged the actor has been involved in a fight at a café over monetary dealings. Reportedly he was arrested by Ghana police, but released shortly.
According to The Ghanaian Times, Jim Iyke was involved in a brawl at the Crave Cafe at Adjiringanor, East Legon in Accra, on December 17.
An eyewitness narrated that people were eating at the cafe at about 5 p.m., when a stout gentleman in a black Range Rover with a Nigerian number plate parked by the cafe.
Jim Iyke showed up about 20 minutes later, driving his Sports Chevy with a Nigerian number plate.
The actor got engaged the man in a heated argument over $10,000 which later turned into a nasty brawl on the street.
The eyewitness further explained that it became difficult for those around to separate the two, and at a point, Jim Iyke wanted to get into his car to pull out something which was suspected to be gun, but he was prevented by those at the cafe.
Two policemen, one in mufti and the other in uniform, appeared at the scene of the conflict shortly, and apprehended Jim Iyke, took him away.
According to the Ghanaian Times, the arrest lasted about 20 minutes later. The actor was came back at the café quite quickly, which created the impression the case had been "settled" by the two policemen.
The Legon Police Commander in a telephone conversation with the local newsmen said, the men he dispatched to the scene after receiving information found that people around were reluctant to give the police in-depth account of what actually transpired and so they were unable to bring the two men to the police station.

One in 200 young women claimed to have become pregnant without having sexual intercourse, doctors in the US have found.
Researchers interviewed 7,870 teenagers over a 14-year period into adulthood finding that modern day virgin births are a reported phenomenon.
They asked participants about their history of vaginal intercourse, pregnancy history, and use of assisted reproductive technology. Their age and religion were also noted.
Of the thousands of young women interviewed, 0.5 per cent confirmed that they had become pregnant despite being virgins and not using IVF or any other assisted reproduction.
The results, published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), also found that 31 per cent of those who reported pregnancy had once signed a chastity pledge.
These girls were also more likely than non-virgins to have parents who indicated that they had less communication about sex and birth control with their child.
Researchers conducted their study at the University of North Carolina as part of the US national longitudinal study of adolescent health.

Xiao Wei’s right hand was severed in an industrial accident at work.
‘I was just shocked and frozen at the spot, until co-workers unplugged the machine and retrieved my hand and took me to the hospital,’ he said of the accident, which took place last month in Changde, south-central China.
After being taken to a larger hospital in the region seven hours after the incident, doctors said they could re-attach the hand but not straightaway.
In order to stop the severed hand from dying, they grafted it to Mr Xiao’s ankle, where it remained for a month before he had recovered from other injuries sustained in the accident to undergo re-attachment surgery.
Doctors are now hopeful that he will regain full function of his hand.

Harvard student accused of making campus bomb hoax
The student, 20-year-old Eldo Kim, sent emails saying bombs had been placed around campus to Harvard police, two university officials and the president of the Harvard Crimson newspaper, according to a criminal complaint filed by the U.S. attorney's office.
The messages said shrapnel bombs would go off soon in two of four buildings, including one where prosecutors say Kim was supposed to take an exam at 9 a.m. Monday. The buildings, on Harvard's campus in Cambridge, just outside Boston, were shut down for hours before investigators determined there were no explosives.
Kim, who lives in Cambridge, is to make an initial court appearance Wednesday. It was unknown if he had an attorney.
Investigators from several agencies searched the buildings for hours before determining there were no explosives. One of the buildings was a freshman dormitory; classes are held in the other three.
Harvard said in a statement it was "saddened" by the allegations in the federal complaint but would have no further comment on the ongoing criminal investigation.
An FBI affidavit filed Tuesday says Harvard determined Kim had accessed TOR, a free Internet product that assigns a temporary anonymous Internet protocol address, using the university's wireless network.
The affidavit says Kim told an agent on Monday night he had acted alone and sent the messages to five or six Harvard email addresses he picked at random.
He said he sent them about half an hour before he was scheduled to take a final in Emerson Hall, one of the buildings threatened, the affidavit says. He said he was in Emerson at 9 a.m. when a fire alarm sounded and he knew his plan had worked, it says.
Kim said he sent the emails from his laptop computer using TOR and Guerrilla Mail, a free Internet application that creates temporary and anonymous email addresses, according to the affidavit.
Kim's LinkedIn profile says he is an undergraduate scholar at Harvard's Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences. The institute's website says he is a research assistant who has worked for a professor analyzing partisan taunting and also writes for the Harvard International Review and dances as a member of the Harvard Breakers.
The maximum penalties for a bomb hoax are five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, prosecutors said.

The retail titan announced earlier this week that they would not be carrying "Beyonce" in stores since the singer had decided to release the album in digital format first.
"At Target, we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections," Target spokeswoman Erica Julkowski told Rolling Stone. "While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyonce in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in the physical format at the same time as all other formats."
For her last album, 2011′s "4," Beyonce had actually sold an exclusive edition through Target, with six additional tracks.
Other stores will get hard copies of the album beginning on Wednesday, and by Friday at the latest, Rolling Stone reported.
But even then, the full "Beyonce" experience won't be available to all shoppers. In accordance with a long-standing policy, Walmart will only carry a softened-down "clean" version of the album.

Manchester United, Chelsea rocked by transfer setback

Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea are both set to suffer frustration in their pursuit of long-term transfer target Sami Khedira, with Real Madrid reportedly ready to offer the German international a bumper new contract to fend off rival interest.
Khedira has been consistently linked with both United and Chelsea for the past six months, with the Red Devils most active in their pursuit of the midfielder after having a formal bid knocked back last summer in a tough transfer window at Old Trafford.
United boss David Moyes is still thought to see Khedira as a viable option in a troublesome position at Old Trafford, but Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep the 26-year-old at the Bernabeu and has instructed chief Florentino Perez to offer the midfielder fresh terms, according to Spanish publication El Confidencial.
Ancelotti is the driving force behind this stance, viewing Khedira as integral to his plans to stick with a tried and tested 4-3-3 formation featuring two more disciplined, holding midfielders.
Madrid will reportedly increase Khedira's wages by £800,000 per year in an effort to persuade the enforcer that his future belongs in the Spanish capital, amid rumours that Arsenal are also monitoring his progress in an effort to increase their growing contingent of German stars.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho has a strong relationship with Khedira dating back to his time in charge at Madrid, but along with United it looks like Chelsea will have to turn their attention to other targets in the search for reinforcements.
Ancelotti is currently without Khedira for the majority of the campaign, after he picked up a knee injury on international duty that has left his participation at next summer's World Cup under considerable threat.

SHOCKING!!! How ɑ Commercial Bus Driver Raped His Passenger From 7pm To 10am
A commercial bus driver, identified as Emeka Ugwudiobi has been accused of raping one of his passengers from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. at gun point in an uncompleted building around Mayor Market, Enugu.
According to the prosecution counsel, Mr Francis Ajagu, the driver plies the New Market-Gariki route and the victim was one of his passengers.
On that fateful day, the driver noticed only the victim was remaining in the bus and drove to an uncompleted building beside the Mayor Market and started raping the victim.
Ajagu said the victim was raped from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. without break and that the pleas of the victim to allow her rest fell on deaf ears. The victim was rescued by one Mr Chidubem Ezeorah, a passerby who ran into the scene and reported the case to the police.
He said that the victim could hardly stand on her feet when the police came to her rescue in the uncompleted building.
However, Mr Obeta Peter, the counsel to the accused, who described the accused as a responsible man with a wife and four children said Emeka had been driving for the past 16 years and that nobody had ever complained that he was a rapist.
He denied that his client had ever set eyes on the victim before, adding that there was no way a bus driver would carry a gun inside his bus and the police would not notice.
Justice Dorathy Agishi ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody while adjourning the case to Feb. 26, 2014 for further hearing.
